In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 148, Maki Zenin returns to the Zenin Clan estate with the intent of retrieving cursed tools to aid in the upcoming Culling Game. Upon arrival, she’s met by her cousin Naoya Zenin, who cruelly mocks her disfiguring scars from the Shibuya Incident and jeers at her loyalty to Megumi Fushiguro and Yuta Okkotsu. Maki, unshaken by his words, ignores him and proceeds to the clan’s underground storage.
There, she encounters her estranged mother, who bitterly scolds Maki for her supposed failures and for bringing shame to the family. Maki disregards the rebuke and continues to the cursed tool warehouse, only to discover it empty. Waiting for her inside is her father, Ogi Zenin, who reveals his betrayal. Behind him lies Maki’s severely injured twin sister, Mai Zenin, unconscious and barely alive.
This chapter heightens the tension within the Zenin Clan, setting the stage for a violent and emotional reckoning as Maki prepares to confront her abusive family.
