On November 1st, as the Culling Game officially begins, the chapter focuses on a quiet, unsettling scene in Sendai City. Kenjaku, the mastermind behind the deadly ritual, visits the home of a young woman named Setsuko. Calmly, he informs her that her city has become a battlefield for a brutal contest of life and death.
Displaying an uncharacteristic courtesy, Kenjaku offers Setsuko a chance to safely leave the barrier enclosing her region. Though terrified and confused, Setsuko accepts. As he leads her out, Kenjaku ominously thanks her for befriending his “son.”
Once outside the barrier, Setsuko reunites with Takeshi Iguchi, a friend she had lost contact with. Shaken, she recalls Kenjaku’s cryptic comment about his son and wonders if he was referring to her former high school classmate, Yuji Itadori.
