As the Culling Game begins in earnest, Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro prepare to enter the Tokyo No. 1 Colony. Before crossing the barrier, Megumi warns Yuji of the severe danger posed by resurrected sorcerers from ancient eras, whose values and morals differ drastically from modern standards. He also reminds Yuji of the unpredictability and lethal nature of the colony’s sorcerers.
Upon entering, the two are immediately separated by the barrier’s mechanics, each teleported to random locations within the colony.
Yuji finds himself ambushed by Hanyu, a Culling Game participant who uses a jet propulsion-like cursed technique for high-speed aerial attacks. Hanyu crashes into Yuji with incredible force, smashing through multiple buildings. However, Yuji survives unscathed thanks to his immense physical resilience.
Recovering quickly, Yuji retaliates by charging a chunk of debris with cursed energy and hurling it at Hanyu with precision. The blow sends her hurtling through a building, gravely wounded.
Before Yuji can catch his breath, Haba, Hanyu’s partner, confronts him, furious over Hanyu’s defeat and seeking revenge. Watching nearby is Rin Amai, an old acquaintance from Yuji’s past who recognizes him as the legendary “Tiger of West Junior High.”
