In the midst of the Culling Game’s Tokyo No.1 Colony, Megumi Fushiguro finds unexpected backup in the form of the eccentric sorcerer and would-be comedian Fumihiko Takaba. Despite his strange antics and terrible jokes, Takaba quickly proves himself to be a surprisingly powerful and dependable ally.
At first, Megumi is wary of Takaba’s bizarre demeanor, but when Takaba unleashes an unpredictable, cursed-energy-charged flying kick that sends Iori Hazenoki crashing through a building, Megumi begins to see his value. Takaba’s wild, impulsive fighting style — seemingly driven by his desire to entertain — destabilizes Hazenoki, making it difficult for him to predict Takaba’s next move.
Meanwhile, Megumi seizes the opportunity to attempt a surprise attack on Reggie Star, though Reggie narrowly evades the strike. Recognizing the need for strategy, Megumi suggests they split up their enemies: Takaba will deal with Hazenoki, whose dangerous technique involves weaponizing his own body parts as explosives, while Megumi focuses on Reggie.
Takaba, staying true to his oddball personality, agrees enthusiastically — continuing to crack terrible jokes mid-battle while showcasing his surprisingly effective, cursed-energy-enhanced combat skills.
