In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 210, the story flashes back to when three girls, including Hana Kurusu—later one of the Six Sorcerers under the Moon Incantation faction—were trapped by a cursed spirit in a dilapidated house. The spirit, posing as their mother, fed them inedible food and dressed them in rags, but the girls played along, knowing the truth.
In the present, Yuji, Megumi, Hana, and Fumihiko fight soldiers and interrogate a local guide about plans to use cursed energy as a renewable resource. Hana is surprised this idea wasn’t considered in Japan, while Fumihiko criticizes the soldier’s betrayal. The soldier explains that Japan’s cultural pride and emphasis on self-responsibility keep sorcery from being widely accepted, a point Megumi agrees with.
The promise of alternative energy was a trap to lure the military, allowing cursed spirits to kill them and harvest cursed energy to complete a merger with Tengen—a strategy predicted by Reggie Star. The Angel urges Yuji to save the soldiers to prevent this merger, but Yuji insists on acting alone.
Meanwhile, cursed spirits lure soldiers into a pit filled with fish-like curses. Yuji and Megumi attempt to rescue them, with Hana saving one soldier. When Megumi questions Yuji about his earlier comment regarding the Angel and Sukuna, Yuji admits his fear that Hana might replace Nobara in their hearts.
It’s revealed that Hana is one of the girls saved by Megumi’s Divine Dog during the past incident, which shaped her belief in fate and her desire to stand by Megumi’s side.
